WHO WE ARE
Phantastica Lab is a research group specialized in hallucinogenic or psychedelic substances applied to mental health, linked to the Department of Neurosciences and Behavioral Sciences of the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto. Our goal is to produce cutting-edge science by exploring the unique effects of these substances on the human mind and their impact on the field of mental health. We operate with scientific rigor, placing Brazil in the spotlight on the international scene.
The name Phantastica Lab refers to the first scientific term used in the 19th century to describe psychedelics, bringing in itself the essence of these substances: substances with fantastic effects that are difficult to describe by science. Research on psychedelics goes beyond the laboratory: these substances have deep social and cultural connections, from indigenous traditions to religious practices.
At Phantastica Lab, our purpose is to push scientific research to the limit to understand the therapeutic potentials of psychedelics and their role in modern mental health.
